Cat parents obviously want their cats to lead a healthy and peaceful life by doing whatever they can to keep them safe. This includes keeping your feline free from the creepy crawly fleas which are harmful and cause major illness issues. There are a number of flea treatment products available and this causes a huge dilemma while opting for the right product. Two such products which treat fleas in cats are Revolution and Advantage Multi (Advocate). Both are quite similar in nature but are not exactly the same. Hence, let us look into the pros and cons of both and determine which one is better suited for your cat. Revolution for Cats – Pro Contains a single ingredient called selamectin which acts as a neurotoxin to heartworms, adult fleas, flea eggs, ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms. • It is known to be odorless and non-greasy as well. • No side effects. • Extremely safe to use. • Etays active for 30 days protecting your cat from infestation. Revolution for Cats – Con • Does not kill tapeworms or prevents sarcoptic mange. • Occasional skin irritation might occur. • Costlier than Advantage Multi. Advantage Multi (Advocate) for Cats – Pro • Contains ingredients such as Imidacloprid and Moxidectin which kills heartworms, adult fleas, flea eggs, ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms. and other parasites • Imidacloprid, a neurotoxin causes hyperexcitability and death in adult insects. • Cheaper than Revolution. • Prevents sarcoptic mange. • Protects your cat from flea infestation for 30 days. Advantage Multi (Advocate) for Cats – Con • They have a bad odor and can be greasy. • Does not kill tapeworms and flea eggs. • Mildly toxic to other animals such as fish and even humans. The below table will simplify your understanding of the two products. As we can see that there is hardly much of a difference between the two. With that being said, it is important to note that a pet owner must opt for a particular product based on their individual pet needs. Hence, see what problems your pet is facing and then based on that opt for the correct product.

The Advantage lists under PRO- kills flea eggs and under CON says it does NOT kill flea eggs. Also, says it kills adult fleas but in the "box" it has an X meaning it does NOT kill fleas.

Dogs may exhibit increased scratching or itching as well as over-grooming or biting, which can result in hair loss. You can check out its treatment at PetCareRx. Dogs can get scabs and sores from scratching, typically on the back and base of the tail, if untreated.
